Leadership in Green Building Awards 2024

The WorldGBC Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards is your chance to showcase and celebrate iconic green buildings that are pushing the envelope in sustainability, the companies that have integrated sustainability into the core of their operations, and the women in leadership in the green building space. Nominations for this year are now open.

There are three categories:

Business Leadership in Sustainability Award

This award celebrates companies that have made sustainability (social, economic and environmental) part of their core business model and are contributing to the transition towards a sustainable built environment.

Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance Award

This award recognises pioneering green building projects that deliver a range of benefits through a holistic approach to sustainability. These projects go beyond simply minimising their impact by considering factors that lead to positive outcomes for both the environment and for people. There are three subcategories under this award: residential, commercial and public.

Women in Green Building Leadership Award

This award is presented to an inspiring female leader in our movement. In a traditionally male-dominated industry, we want to recognise the pivotal role that women play in nurturing and activating their communities and delivering change.

The awards are open to GBCA member companies and their green building projects of all sizes across the region. GBCA members must nominate directly through the Green Building Council of Australia.


Why should businesses or projects enter?

  • Raising their profile – Finalists and winners of the Awards will be profiled through WorldGBC’s global press work, social media and other communications activities.
  • Getting in front of the right people – Businesses and projects are judged by a group of renowned and highly influential figures in the green building industry.
  • Receiving recognition – The Awards are a chance to celebrate some of the most progressive businesses and projects in a hugely important region for the future of green building.

How to apply

The application process for the WorldGBC Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards, the nomination process is as follows:

  1. Ensure your organisation is a member of Green Building Council of Australia. If you're not a member and interested, email our membership team here and we'll contact you with more information.
  2. Select from one of the following awards and download the submission form:
    1. Business Leadership in Sustainability Award
    2. Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance Award
    3. Women in Green Building Leadership Award
  3. Review the nomination criteria and fill in the submission form responding clearly to each of the criteria outlined. 
  4. Include any supplementary information to support your nomination. 
  5. Email all applications to membership@gbca.org.au with the subject heading ‘World GBC Asia Pacific Leadership Awards Nomination’

GBCA will be waiving all fees related to the nomination for GBCA members so please disregard any reference to nomination fees within the nomination criteria.  

GBCA will confirm your nomination receipt over email within 48hours. Winning nominations will be selected and subsequently forwarded to the World GBC Asia Pacific nominations panel. All entries will be contacted on the status of their submission. 


Important dates

8 April - 28 June: Nomination period - this is the window for members to submit their nominations to the GBCA

15 July: GBCA selects local winners and forwards selected nominees to WGBC for consideration

August: GBCA announces Australian awards candidates

15 July - 15 September: WGBC judging period

September: WGBC announces judging period 

4 - 8 September: WGBC Awards ceremony finalist announced at Tianjin Eco-City, China
